Billy Schumacher Racing is pleased to announce that we will be leasing a boat for the remainder of the 2010 racing season from Fred Leland.  The former champion boat from the Leland stable last raced in the 2009 season.

Jane Schumacher says “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Fred Leland and his organization, which is allowing us to continue to race for the season.  While we are disappointed with the outcome at the Gold Cup, we are thankful for the continued recovery of our driver J.W. Thursday July 26th- U-37.com is onsite with the team in Kennewick Washington preparing to run for the Lamb Weston Columbia Cup. Jean Theoret looks prepared for his weekend and Scott Raney has his game plan prepared. Stay tuned all weekend as we’ll be bringing almost real time information and photos from the Columbia River. The weather is absolutely beautiful and as usual for Tri Cities it’s about 95 degrees ALL DAY AND NIGHT! No matter where you are in Washington (or the NW for that matter) you’re close. Get to Tri Cities and enjoy some incredible boat racing!

Friday July 27th- The rookie Brian Perkins has just had his first practice run in Tri Cities. No word yet on how he ran but from the shore he looked good. Congrats Brian!
Jean Theoret has not yet run but rumor has it that the U37 will be running in this first practice session.

Scott Raney ended up pulling the plug on a run in the early session. Most likely because of a setup change and there just wasn’t enough time to do it before testing closed.

Jean Theoret did get out on the water a couple of times during the afternoon sessions. Besides qualifying today they used the test sessions to try different setups and dial in the equipment. Saturday we start heat racing and the crew and the boat are ready to go racing.

Saturday July 28th- Jean Theoret has been out on the Columbia two times this morning. Theoret is currently running around 154 mph. Heat racing begins at 3:15pm local time with the vintage boats running at about 2:25pm local time. Pics are coming soon.

Jean Theoret puts an end to bad luck streak by putting on the pajamas and winning heat 1C. The heat started out very intense with the U3 taking the lead in turn 1. By the apex Theoret was in the lead when U3 threw a prop and the day was done. We hear that the boat had very little damage and that’s great news for the U3 team.

Heat draws for Sunday morning can be found here ABRA

Sunday July 29th- in Kennewick on the shores of the Columbia river. Jean Theoret has been on the water and speeds are looking faster than yesterday. Theoret dialed in a 158 in the morning session and we’re ready to go racing.

Jean Theoret ran in heat 2A and took 300 points for second place behind the U16. The boat ran well and Theoret is in great shape as the weekend progresses. No photos from 2A because we shot video but we will have photos later in the day.

Heat 3B is in the books. Jean Theoret ran a strong race and battled the U13 early. There were reports that the U9 and U13 collided on the next lap. No word as to the cause of the collision so we’ll wait to hear for sure before reporting it. Everything is going well on the Columbia. There is a good attitude in the pits and Scott Raney has his crew and his boat firing on all cylinders…Ok, well his crew anyway. The turbine is running real nice too though.

The U37 was penalized 1 lap for a lane violation and came up short in the final in the Lamb Weston Columbia cup. The race began with Theoret forcing the 16 to choose an outside lane. The start was a clean start and Theoret in the U37 pulled everyone through the first turn. The violation happened somewhere beyond our view so we can’t tell you exactly what happened. According to the officialy ruling Theoret had a lane change violation. So that’s where we stand. I talked to Scott Raney this morning and the crew slept very well last night and are ready for the trip back to Seatle.
