Jean Theoret Hits Lake Washington
Jean Theoret arrived in Seattle on Monday and the crew greeted him with his ride for 2008. It's been a long winter with a slew of changes made to the boat but today it was ready to go racing. Theoret was able to get in 3 runs and the boat performed exceptionally well. The changes in the off season appear to have done the boat very well. Jean Theoret stated at the end of the day that the boat ride was very good. Photos of the runs can be found HERE. Look for more on this in the Pit later this week.
The session tested everything. Boat changes, crew, driver and yes, we even tested Bill Cahill himself. Mr Cahill got to realize a life long dream and pilot an unlimited hydroplane. I can tell you this. I was on the water when he ran and he did a great job. He muscled it through the turns and in the straight aways he stood on it. I did not get the offical speed times but compared to other runs during the day I'd say he was easily pushing 150mph if not more. Congratulations Mr Cahill.
We'll have plenty more in The Pit later in the week.
New Features on the U37 Website
As we transition in to the off-season we're changing some exisitng features and adding others. Jean's Journal has evolved a little bit. We're now calling it The Pit and trying to provide a more rounded look at the team and what goes on from various angles, not just the cockpit. In addition to The Pit we've added a new video page. We're going through the cockpit video and providing clips from Jean's perspective. See what it's like when the water rushes over the canopy as Jean brings the boat up on a plane. Or experience the "milling period" as Jean battles for position before the Tri Cities final. Once you've experienced that, take a ride with Jean in the Tri Cities final of 2007. Our friend Jean-Philippe Joulin has also put together a video montage of some outstanding video that he shot in Evansville and Detroit. COME RACE WITH US!
